GFM: Physical Education – Easter Break

As we go into Easter holidays the physical education teams will be taking some time away from work. However we all recognise the importance of keeping up with our ‘Daily Dose’ of exercise.

We have been so impressed with the interest from everyone with our community during this time of restricted movement. Whether you have been keeping up with the daily challenges, making the use of the Netflex resource or joining the Body Coach everyday we wanted to say a massive well done to you all.

One of the important principles of any training plan is variation – making sure that we change what we are doing! This will help you maintain your interest and not get bored.  We have checked in with some of the PE team to see what they will be doing over the Easter holidays to keep fit and active.  Hopefully you might find some inspiration.

Mr Searley“ I will be ensuring the family do the Joe Wicks workout everyday. We have truly loved taking part in this and it has become part of the daily routine! Fancy Dress Fridays makes it a bit different! Have a great Easter everyone.

Miss Brawn – “I will be keeping up my cycling regime!  I have really enjoyed being able to get out on the bike regularly for a responsible amount of time. I have even been able to overtake some people wearing lycra – from a safe distance obviously! To those of you teaching little one’s how to cycle there are some great non-bike based exercises you can do that will help them learn quicker on the British Cycling Association Website readysetride. Have a great Easter.”

Miss Scanlon, our international Basketball player has been trying to keep up with her training programme “It has been really difficult without a basketball court to play on!  I have been doing a leg workout and body circuit to maintain my conditioning. I have been using the the Home Court App #stayinthegame to help me develop my basketball skills. If you have a ball and a phone you can use it in any small space! Best of all it is free at the moment!  Be safe and take care.”

Miss Williams has been finding her inner zen to help,  “I will be doing my daily yoga either in the morning or evenings, I find this is a great way to find some calm and focus. You can find some good yoga sessions here. I am really lucky to have a garden so I will be taking advantage of the nice weather, even painting some plant pots. This can be quite therapeutic. I hope you all manage to have a nice easter.”

We hope you are able to enjoy the Easter sunshine whilst keeping to government restrictions; it is really important that we stay fit and healthy but stay at home. If you need any more ideas go to the Youth Sports Trust page: #stayhomestayactive.

All the best Mr Osborne and the PE teams across the GFM .
