World Book Day is Thursday 7th March. Our theme this year is the Lord of the Rings (including the Hobbit). We are planning several activities to celebrate reading, including a non-uniform day. Students are asked to dress as a book character wherever possible. Often the best costumes are those that have been created – we do not expect parents, carers or students to buy costumes. A symbol from the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings, such as a ring or a wizard’s hat will be enough to mark the day. Book characters from other books are also very welcome. Non-uniform day will cost £1, with the proceeds being divided between BookAid International and library updates to benefit our students. Last year we raised £400 for BookAid and we are hoping to exceed that amount this year.
Badges will be sold in the library for the week of World Book Day, while on the actual day there will also be sweets and biscuits on sale.
