The Princess Royal – official opening of Gosport Community Hub

It was a privilege to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to the Gosport and Fareham Multi Academy Trust this week for the official Royal opening of the Gosport Community Hub.

Princess Anne met with staff, service parents and members of the community to highlight the importance of the support the Hub will bring to families and the wider community in Fareham and Gosport.

Students from across GFM schools including Gomer Junior, Rowner Junior, Bay House and Brune Park and students from the Gosport Sea Cadets lined the playground to welcome the Princess Royal.

Located at Brune Park Community School, the Gosport Community Hub supports families and children, particularly those from service families.

It has been made possible by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) who has provided £400,000 of funding for the construction of the building and a dedicated team of staff. The Princess Royal has been a patron of the charity since 2007.

Executive Headteacher of the GFM, Chris Willis, said: “You couldn’t deny the absolute buzz of excitement as hundreds of GFM students had the opportunity to welcome the Princess Royal to our town. The Gosport Community Hub will continue to be pivotal for our mission to transform and enrich the lives of young people. We have a clear aspiration to reshape and improve engagement of our families and community partners across the town. We would like to once again thank the RNRMC for their investment into our strategy. Princess Anne’s visit has underlined the significance of our ambition, it was a wonderful experience to meet her and share our story as a community.”
