At Fort Nelson, they currently have a tribute to the 258 military and civilian lives lost during the Falklands conflict. Life-size silhouetted figures represent those who did not return from the Falklands. This exhibition has been touring the country, but this is the first time it has been seen in the South of England.
The art installation is called Standing with Giants – it’s free admission and runs until 9 July. Fort Nelson is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 5pm – and daily during half term.
Please book your free tickets in advance at www.royalarmouries.org to guarantee your visit, as the site has capacity limits.
Fort Nelson is free to enter and will be open every day during half term. They also have a free ‘Letters Home’ trail for families to enjoy, running alongside the art installation.
Two ‘Meet the Veterans’ events are also taking place on Sunday 28 May and Sunday 25 June – 10.30 – 12.30pm.
