Early Finish for students: Thursday 12 March

As you may be aware, UK health officials have announced a strategy for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 (commonly known as ‘Coronavirus’).

The Government has indicated that if it moves to the ‘delay’ phase of its strategy schools could be partially or fully closed.  Whilst this still remains unlikely, our schools are currently drawing up contingency plans – which include delivering revision and home study materials to learners online; particularly for those students preparing for GCSE study.

In order to facilitate the staff training and technology trials necessary for this, the school will close early at 12.50pm on Thursday 12th March 2020.

Footlights will run a full hot snack menu, with sandwiches, baguettes and pasta salads (and cakes) which students can access through break one.

We remain committed to a sensible and proportionate response and wish to reiterate that there is no reason for alarm.  The Government’s advice continues to be that good personal hygiene is the most effective way we can tackle COVID-19, especially washing hands thoroughly, together with the catch it, bin it, kill it strategy for those with coughs and sneezes.  The school continues to monitor the situation daily and will respond to the latest guidance from the DfE and Public Health England.

Thank you for your continued support.
