80 pupils from Year 9 and a team of staff spent two days navigating and exploring the South Downs National Park as part of the Duke Of Edinburgh award scheme.
The team camped at Queen Elizabeth Country Park and were challenged by the weather with everything from thunderstorms to blazing sunshine.
Assistant Headteacher Mr Osborne said: “We saw fantastic teamwork, focused leadership, determination and resilience from all.
“Pupils said how much they enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, admiring the wildlife and stunning landscapes of our local countryside.
“All the teams impressed their assessors with their camp craft and how tidy they left the site. They put everything that they had learnt in their training sessions and practice expedition to good use.”
We are also pleased to announce that we have appointed three more Duke of Edinburgh Coordinators for the GFM.
We would like to welcome Rachel Ashford (Gold award), Carina Jones and Alex Page (Go Beyond and Bronze) to the team!
Thanks also goes to BXM Expeditions and everyone who has supported our pupils.
Volunteers are vital to the success of these expeditions. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, we would love to hear from you. Email us: dofebronze@gfmat.org
