‘Drop everything and read’

KS3 learners took part in ‘Drop Everything and Read’.

The initiative sets to increase engaging with reading and different texts.

The Art Department has created an artistic ‘Drop Everything and Read’ board based around Macfarlane and Morris’ ‘The Lost Words.’
The Geography Department created intelligent graffiti based around a podcast on polar bears and climate.
The Music Department was listening to the podcast ‘Mental Music’ created for teens by teens discussing music and mental health.
The Maths Department was looking at ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’  and how its chapters are all in prime numbers. This was linked to ‘The Sieve of Eratosthenes’ and ‘Goldbach’s Conjecture’ within the KS3 scheme of learning.
Year 10 at The Enterprise Academy also took part reading a selection of texts focusing on a number of key ideas learners were interested in.
