‘Chi Rocks’ (and so do we!)

Tuesday 18th June saw ten of our Year 9 Music students begin 3 days of intense workshops hosted by the University of Chichester’s Music department. The students, along with 6 other schools, participated in lectures about music production, Song writing, marketing, performance and were tasked to create, produce, market and perform their own original songs. The final performances took place in the Student Union at the University and the atmosphere was electric. Jodie Randall said ‘This has been an incredible opportunity to learn new skills and work with new people as well as making new friends. The University Ambassadors have been really supportive and we have learnt so much from them. I have always wanted to write my own music and perform in a band and this has given me the confidence needed to explore songwriting as a future career. This has been one of the best experiences of my life’. Sam Evison said ‘It’s been awesome working with like minded students and working together in such a creative way, as well as combining all of our ideas’. Mrs Hughes, teacher of Music said ‘It’s been a long 3 days for all of the students involved but the work and performances produced by our musicians has been amazing and their confidence has really grown! They have really done themselves and the school proud.
