The JET students had another great day yesterday, this time at the University of Portsmouth.
We took the ferry across and back from Gosport. When we got there the students designed and made records and tested them before having a tour of the university including seeing the robotics lab and operating the robotic dogs.

Our Year 8 pupils got a taster of non-fiction November in their library lessons last week. It gave them a chance to think about where to find trustworthy information and to explore the benefits that non-fiction brings.
Reading non-fiction:
• Expands vocabulary and awareness by introducing precise terms and real world language that fiction often skips.
• Builds real world knowledge that helps you understand how things work.
• Inspires real action by sparking ideas and motivating you to make a difference.
• Improves communication skills so you can write and speak more effectively and with more confidence.
• Develops critical thinking by teaching you to question, analyse, and evaluate information, which is essential in an age of misinformation.
Pupils enjoyed independently choosing a topic and creating a treasure map of knowledge based on the key facts they discovered.

📣 Reminder for Parents & Carers of Year 11
Pupils’ and Parents’ Revision Conference – Tuesday 2nd December 2025
A quick reminder about our upcoming Revision Conference taking place on Tuesday, 2nd December, between 4:30pm and 7:00pm, following the sharing of PPE results earlier that afternoon.
This event is designed to help you support your child as they prepare for the next round of Pre-Public Exams in February and their GCSEs in the summer term. The evening will include a presentation full of practical revision tips and advice on how to help your child maximise their performance.
📘 Revision packs containing essential study materials will also be available, along with subject stalls where you can speak with specialist teachers and gather further useful resources.
You and your child will also have the chance to meet a wide range of Post-16 Providers, including Colleges, Sixth Forms, Apprenticeship Providers, Local Employers, and Industry Specialists — a great opportunity to explore future pathways and next steps.
