Parents and Carers of Key Stage 4 pupils, ever heard of the ‘summer slide’?
This is how educators refer to the learning lost by young people over the summer break, with some research suggesting that pupils can lose up to 40% of the academic knowledge they secured in the previous school year, over the break. This learning loss seems more pronounced at KS4.
To combat this, our subject specialists have put together a package of KS4 tasks and materials that will help keep brains busy over the break. Pupils can access this via their Year Office Google Classroom and we will share reminders throughout the break. All of the material is aimed at getting pupils ready for the next academic year.
We would encourage pupils to have a well-deserved rest and enjoy spending time with their families and friends, but perhaps find some time to do some learning – little and often.
