Modern Foreign Languages
Bienvenue! ¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!
Welcome to the Modern Foreign Languages Department, where your journey to becoming a global citizen begins. In an increasingly interconnected world, learning a language is far more than an academic pursuit—it is your passport to opportunity and success on a global stage.

📚 Our Curriculum & Approach
We deliver dynamic French and Spanish pathways across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). Every lesson is built around developing four core linguistic pillars:
- 👂 Listening – Understanding authentic spoken language.
- 🗣️ Speaking & Pronunciation – Building confidence in communication.
- 📖 Reading – Engaging with diverse texts and contexts.
- ✍️ Writing – Expressing ideas with grammatical accuracy.
Blended Learning: To support progress beyond the classroom, homework is regularly set via the Tassomai platform, reinforcing independent study habits and retrieval practice.
🎨 Making Languages Accessible to All
We believe that every student can succeed in languages. Our enthusiastic, passionate team of specialist practitioners uses a vibrant mix of teaching methods to bring lessons to life:
- Interactive Learning: Language games, songs, and immersive videos.
- Cultural Discovery: Exploring the traditions, history, and customs of French and Spanish-speaking countries.
- Future Readiness: Equipping KS3 students with transferable skills that provide a seamless foundation for those opting to study languages at GCSE.
