Here you will find updates of all the extra-curricular opportunities we have to offer, past and present.
‘Matilda’ Whole School Production – 20th – 22nd June 2023
We were filled with pride watching the ‘Matilda Family’ cast and crew collaborate on this project with us and for some, this is their first performance in front of an audience. From that first moment in auditions where we were met with a queue reaching out of the Drama Centre doors, we knew this was going to be something special. It has really brought our community together and it was wonderful to see how many of our students were involved from Year 7 right up to our BTEC Level 3 students.
‘Even if you’re little, you can do a lot’.
‘Matilda Jr’ is a gleefully funny story showing the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! The musical premiered in the West End in 2010 and is based on Roald Dahl’s best-selling novel of the same name. With the recent release of ‘Matilda the Musical’ in cinemas, our students were thrilled to take on the roles of Matilda, Miss Trunchbull, Miss Honey and more.
Arts University Bournemouth
Some of our wonderful GCSE Drama students went to Arts University Bournemouth on Thursday 16th November for a tour, careers talk and to watch a theatrical production of ‘Thérèse. The students were fantastic and were complimented on their maturity and respectfulness. We cannot wait to see how the trip inspires them!
Drama
Museum by Torchlight
Our Drama students helped to create a ghostly world at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery’s event ‘Museum by Torchlight’ on Friday 27th October 2023.
The students dressed up and spooked visitors in the dark with their ghostly apparitions.
Wendy, from the Hampshire Cultural Trust, said: “The students were amazing and really helped to bring our building to life through the characters they became. “We received lots of praise and positive feedback from the visitors to the event. The young people were a credit to your school and should all be very proud of themselves. We really appreciate the students and teachers giving up their time in the half term to make our event a success.”
‘Clue’ – Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th September 2022
The Drama team were excited to present ‘Clue: High School Edition’ with a talented team of students from KS3 all the way up to our Level 3 BTEC Performing students. From the actors on stage, to the backstage crew, the commitment of all of our students and staff brought this incredible show together.
Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was based on the classic Hasbro board game, ‘Clue’ is a hilarious farce-meets-murder-mystery.
When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by the butler, Mr. Wadsworth, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs White, Mr. Green, Mrs Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up.

It is wonderful to see children from our local community engage with us and share our passion for the Arts!
Bridgemary Library – 7th July 2022
On Thursday 7th July, our Year 8 Global Curriculum students performed to students from Alver Valley School at Bridgemary Library. This event was a collaboration between the GFM Performing Arts Department and Gosport Libraries to engage youngsters in the Summer Reading Challenge. Our students created a ‘living installation’ where the audience could interact with the performance. They were exceptional in their interactions with the younger students and their performances were well received.
